Better training with microlearning

Microlearning: learning in small bites

Extensive text documents and lengthy face-to-face training courses are no longer in keeping with the times. Instead, employees want to learn in small units of less than ten minutes. Videos, known as learning nuggets, are particularly suitable for microlearning. This allows employees to acquire important content in a self-directed manner. Read more about this here.

Knowledge transfer in companies regularly involves a great deal of effort. Microlearning, on the other hand, can simplify learning processes and even reduce training costs. The fact that microlearning is becoming increasingly relevant is also the view of 71% of the experts in the MMB's Learning Delphi.

Up to now, when companies talk about further training, they often refer to training courses or seminars. These are bought in for a lot of money and often only take place on fixed dates. An option that offers significantly more flexibility and makes the content accessible at any time would be better.

Microlearning: better for employees and companies

Microlearning saves costs. Unlike seminars, for example, this learning method divides the material into small chunks. Content is summarized in short and memorable videos that employees can watch from anywhere. This eliminates travel costs for employees.

Microlearning offers flexibility. As the content is archived online, there are further advantages compared to face-to-face training. Learners can consume the learning material when it suits them. This means that the right chunks of information are always available as soon as a specific problem needs to be solved. If anything is unclear, the content can be looked at again.

Required content is easier to find

Unlike seminars with a static schedule, employees can find the content they need much more quickly in small learning units. Since video platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo are now heavily integrated into our consumer behavior, we are used to short video units, which is why microlearning is also much better suited to learning. The small "learning snacks" help employees to retain the material better, as their attention is much higher with flexible time management.

Learning material can be updated quickly and easily

A further, not insignificant advantage: updating created learning units is uncomplicated throughout. Instead of re-recording long videos, small learning films can be quickly brought up to date.

Incidentally, employees' knowledge can also be passed on in the form of microlearning. The ease of use of SlidePresenter means that experts can easily preserve their own knowledge and make it available. In this way, the company retains valuable knowledge in the long term.
