From field sales training to video podcasts

How Kärcher approaches digital transformation in corporate learning with Omnora

Continuous Learning at Kärcher

Kärcher is the world market leader in cleaning equipment. Whether for home users or in the commercial sector, the products with their distinctive yellow color are ubiquitous. The family-owned company from Baden-Württemberg employs more than 15,000 people in 80 countries. More than 50,000 service centers in all countries ensure seamless customer supply worldwide. Continuous learning is important to the company. Under the keyword "WOW Development," the company operates its own campus and offers employees diverse development opportunities.

Decentralized Learning Environment with Omnora

To strengthen digital learning, Kärcher introduced Omnora's authoring tool in 2020. "We were in a digital transformation process at the time. Due to the strong trend towards working from home, we needed a solution that would enable decentralized learning," explains Michael Pirke, responsible for the Kärcher Academy. "We didn't just want to send out PowerPoints; we also wanted to interactively convey the important explanations from the presenter.

"The introduction of Omnora took place gradually.Training videos for the field service, which needed to be reached at many locations, were the first step. These videos were initially created by the academy's trainers.

"We got started quickly, and the support was excellent!"

Gradually, other departments and authors from customer service or HR development were integrated. "We got started quickly, and the support was excellent! We not only received technical support but also didactic advice. This helped us a lot in this medium, which was also new to us.", Pirke recalls the first few months.

“It's very easy to create content”

In addition to the internal sales network, product training is now also shared with the large external dealer network. This is achieved very transparently via corresponding release guidelines in Omnora. "From management to classic field service or service technicians, the HR department, and our retail partners throughout Germany, we use Omnora," Michael Pirke summarizes the broad range of applications.

Furthermore, Kärcher also publishes podcasts or video podcasts for internal communication using Omnora's authoring tool.

Since its launch, more than 1,000 pieces of content have already been produced with Omnora.Currently, these are accessed more than 5,000 times per quarter – with an upward trend.

Michael Pirke remains convinced: "It's very easy to create content, even without experience in film editing. The simple sharing via link and full control over video material and training documents are still the main benefits for us."
